Privacy policy.

How we collect, use and protect your personal information — whether you're shopping with us or enquiring on behalf of a business.

Effective 15 May 2026

In plain English

Most privacy policies are 10,000 words of legal jargon designed to confuse you while a company quietly hoovers up your data and sells it on.

We don't do that. We're a small team in Yorkshire making dehydrated cocktail fruit by hand. We treat your details with the same care we put into the product.

Below is exactly what we collect, why we need it, and what we do with it. No fluff.

1. Who we are

Batch & Peel Ltd (“Batch & Peel”, “we”, “us”, “our”) is a company registered in England and Wales under company number 17232978. Our trading address is in Yorkshire, United Kingdom. We are the data controller for the personal information described in this policy.

For any privacy questions, contact us at hello@batchandpeel.co.uk.

2. Information we collect

If you shop with us (consumers)

Orders are processed through our Shopify storefront and checkout. We collect the information you provide to complete a purchase: name, billing and delivery address, email address, phone number and order details. Payment card details are handled directly by Shopify and its payment processors — we do not see or store your card data.

If you opt in at checkout or sign up to our newsletter, we also keep a record of your marketing consent.

If you enquire as a business (trade & wholesale)

When you submit our trade enquiry form, we collect your business name, contact name, email, city or region, business type, estimated monthly volume and any message you send. We use this to respond to your enquiry and to set up trade accounts where appropriate.

General contact form

Submitting our contact form sends us your name, email address and the contents of your message so we can reply.

Newsletter

If you sign up to our newsletter, we store your email address along with the date and source of your consent.

3. How we use your information

  • To process and fulfil orders, including shipping and customer service.
  • To respond to enquiries from individuals and businesses.
  • To send marketing communications, only where you have opted in.
  • To meet our legal and accounting obligations (for example, keeping order records for HMRC).
  • To prevent fraud and keep our website and services secure.

4. Legal bases (UK GDPR)

  • Contract — to fulfil your order and provide customer support.
  • Legitimate interests — to respond to B2B / trade enquiries, to maintain our records, and to protect against fraud.
  • Consent — for marketing emails. You can withdraw consent at any time.
  • Legal obligation — to keep tax and accounting records.

5. Sharing your data

We share personal data only with trusted providers that help us run the business:

  • Shopify, for our storefront, checkout and order management.
  • Payment processors (via Shopify) to handle transactions.
  • Couriers and delivery partners to ship your order.
  • Email and hosting providers used to operate this website.
  • Professional advisors (accountants, legal) where required.

We never sell your personal data.

6. Cookies

We use essential cookies needed to make the site work (cart, session). With your consent we may also set analytics and marketing cookies. You can accept, reject or fine-tune your choices via the cookie banner on first visit, or change them at any time using the "Cookie settings" link in the footer. See our cookie policy for full detail.

7. How long we keep your data

  • Order records: 6 years, to meet HMRC requirements.
  • Trade and contact enquiries: up to 24 months after our last interaction.
  • Newsletter: until you unsubscribe.

8. Your rights

Under UK GDPR you have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you.
  • Correct inaccurate data.
  • Request deletion (where we're not required to keep it).
  • Restrict or object to certain processing.
  • Receive your data in a portable format.
  • Withdraw marketing consent at any time.

To exercise any of these rights, email hello@batchandpeel.co.uk. You can also complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.

9. International transfers

Some of our providers (such as Shopify and our hosting infrastructure) may process data outside the UK. Where they do, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or equivalent.

10. Children

Our website and products are not directed at children under 18, and we do not knowingly collect data from them.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we'll change the effective date at the top of the page.
